Fees and administrative arrangements
Fees and travel expenses are negotiated according to the circumstances and complexity of each matter before work is undertaken.
This means that the parties will know in advance what the potential costs will be, an important feature of Alternative Dispute Resolution in contrast to open ended litigation.
As an indication, the fee would be commensurate with what a senior lawyer would charge in the nearest capital city to where the service is to be provided.
An hourly rate or daily rate is set according to the wishes of the parties who usually contribute equal shares unless in the case of arbitration, cost orders are sought against the unsuccessful party. The fee is held in a trust account until the conclusion of the matter or upon the authority of the parties to release the funds.
Hearing facilities.
If necessary, an appropriate hearing room will be hired to suit the convenience of the parties as well as any ancillary services which might be necessary.
